During a late night outing with a friend I met at the hostel I was staying at, I took a night-time shot of wall graffiti at a local playground in Montevideo, Uruguay. Graffiti in South America is the most impressive I’ve ever seen. In particular, Uruguay, Argentina and Bolivia have the most colorful, creative and omnipresent displays of street art and graffiti. As a travel photographer I find this absolutely fascinating; however, I realize that many people consider it to be an eyesore. For perspective shots I often use my wide angle lens and for details I put on my nifty 50 mm lens where I have more creative control of the aperture. This is a travel photo from Montevideo, Uruguay. Although I didn’t take as many photos from Uruguay as other countries, I do have quite a few more to share from Montevideo travel photo vault if you click on the graffiti above.
It’s great to see that graffiti is becoming more socially acceptable. We’re a long way from sneaking into building to practise our art. This is a legitimate art form, and should be treated as such. Nuff said.
Graffiti is such an undervalued form of expression, in my eyes… Especially when some of it is absolutely beautiful!
I wholeheartedly agree with you! It’s one of the lasting impressions I have from my trip in South America.
Reminds me of a mad boogieman 0_0
LOL, yeah & I think at night it gives it even more of the appearance.
