This is a travel photo of Tornado chips on a skewer being sold around Jonker Street outdoor market – Melaka, Malaysia. The spiral chips are deep fried and sold to numerous customers passing through the crowded street on a weekend. They’re something of a cross between potato chips and french fries. They’re thicker than potato chips but not as crispy; on the other hand, fries are definitely thicker and more moist on the inside. They were one of my favorite street food items while I was touring around Malaysia. They’re also quite popular in South Korea where I am currently based. Delicious street & junk food is something that Korea and Malaysia have in common with each other and it’s one of the reasons I love Korea. This is a travel photo from Melacca, Malaysia. I assume these are fried? Chips on a stick?
Yeah, they were just about to get deep fried. I can’t believe I never tried them myself while I was there.
