Today’s feature photo from Asia is of a discarded rustic waste materials left outside the Kampung Ayer (water stilt village) in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. Taking photos of rusted or decaying objects is one of my favorite subjects. Some of my other favorite subjects include taking photos of cats and shots of laundry from around the world. These odd obsessions of mine are certainly strange. I know that my love of cats is something that stems back to my childhood and whenever I get a chance to play with cats you’ll find me acting like a child all over again. On the other hand, laundry is something I find fascinating because growing up in Canada, it was always washed and dried by machine; however, in most other parts of the world (especially in Asia) its always hanged up to dry on display for everyone to see. Rustic materials? I have no idea why I enjoy taking photos of things crumbling, decaying or decomposing. I’ll just attribute it to one of the many quirks of my personality.
