This travel video is of the Battambang Circus (Cirque Nouveau – New Circus – Contemporary Circus) performance, acrobatics, story and art that takes place at Phare Ponleu Selpak twice a week. Phare Ponleu Selpak is an NGO school for disadvantaged children and teenagers in Battambang. The Nouveau Cirque performance is a great cause that supports this school. Highly skilled and trained Khmer children and Cambodian teenagers perform incredible acrobatics, contortion, juggling, trapeze, stretching, jumping and acting feats set to lively music. The contemporary performance is based around a story or theme and does not involve the use of animals. For those interested in the show it costs $10 and is about 10 minute tuk-tuk ride from the city center area. We were both in awe of the performance and we left feeling thoroughly impressed by these talented Khmer / Cambodian kids.
