In this episode of Backpacking Travel TV, Nomadic Samuel and Audrey Bergner (That Backpacker) explore the beautiful campus of Ewha Womans University. Located in Seodaemun-gu in the northwest end of the city, this private women’s university is ranked one of the top in the country. Ewha only accepts female students, with the exception of foreign male student coming on exchange. It’s honestly one of the most lovely campuses we’ve ever visited before in our lives given how trendy and modern the campus is compared to others.
While on campus, we visited the flower mural and watched as couples and friends posed together. We also marveled at the architecture of ‘the Campus Valley’, and noticed many students were out with their cameras posing in front of this impressive feat of engineering. As we continued our stroll, we could hear the sound of drumming and decided to follow it; this brought us to a traditional performance, which was taking place in front of one of the university buildings. The Korean performers put on a mesmerizing show as they dazzled us with their Korean folk dance and music.
The area around the university is also worth visiting as it boasts cafes, restaurants, trendy boutiques, and street markets. It is certainly considered one of the ‘it’ spots for trendy young people in all of Seoul, South Korea. It’s a beautiful part of the city, and we can’t recommend it enough! It’s best to visit in either the fall or spring when temperatures are neither too hot or too cold. Although we didn’t get a chance to revisit before our time in Korea expired, we highly recommend you take the time to visit yourself!
