When I was backpacking in India I embarked on a five day camel safari just outside of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan in the Thar Desert. My camel driver and his nephew were fantastic guides who took care of my every need. Near the end of our journey we took time to goof around a bit leaping/jumping off of sand dunes. There are no shots of me because neither of them really understood how to use my camera; however, I’m quite pleased with some of the shots I captured of them – especially of the teenage boy who appeared to be having the time of his life on his first ever outing.Â
I love the pics of them landing! The faces made me laugh out loud 😀 Thanks for sharing this!
I reckon that would have been an awesome experience!
It sure was!
Hahaha! That looks like so much fun! I’ve always wanted to go jumping off of sand dunes. I have a buddy of mine who did it down in South America-they had a blast!
Ronald, it sure is fun! I’ve also done it in South America. If you ever get the chance definitely go for it 🙂
I love jumpin’ pictures and hate it when people can’t take decent pictures. Especially during moments like these. I’m planning to make it out to Rajasthan in March, what company do you recommend for a 2-3 day camel safari?
Thanks Gerard, I wish I had a faster lens though for moments like these. Some of the photos aren’t as sharp as I would like 🙂 I think if you went with Ganesh or Satyam those would be your best bets. You’ll have a lot of fun & it’s one of the cheapest (yet most rewarding tours) I’ve ever been on.
oh…great enjoying. good..keep it up….
Thanks!
One of my fav things to do in White Sands.
This looks like a blast!
That looks awesome. I used to love doing that at the beach. That kid reminds me of myself.
It looks like fun. Too bad there weren’t any shots of you taking the jump. I would have loved to see your moves. They look like they are having so much fun. I hope I can find a place here where I can practice.
I love these shots! Very fun, unusual and well-captured. Cool background story, too — maybe someday I’ll have a camel driver as a guide 🙂
Fun photo collection!
Really unique – enjoyed these! =)
This looks like so much fun…. but you’d be finding sand in odd places for days after. 🙂
Great shots! I’m sure they’re still pouring sand out of the creases of their pants!
Such fun jumping shots 🙂
Hah, these are great. Where is the one of the camel jumping?
Nice set! I love Jumpshots and the story behind the characters. I bet the younger boy really enjoyed the photo session. Hope he visits your blog soon and see his happy jump moments. Take a leap! 😀
I really love your photo essays–so much that I included you in today’s post. Hope it sends some new readers your way.
Stay safe,
Nancy
Nice shots Samuel. Also looks like a lot of fun!
