Welcome to Volume II of the Top 100 Travel blogs! It’s been incredible the amount of interest this list has received since I published the initial rankings over 2 months ago. There are now over 25 new entries that I’m tracking with some of those sites ranking prominently on this latest update.
I’ve always stressed one of the main reasons for creating this list (aside from the obvious fact SEOmoz was not being tracked anywhere else) revolves around it always being current and up to date with blogs that deserve to be on it. Although there will always be errors in omissions, the process of travel blogs/sites being included on the next update is crucial in my opinion.
What’s changed from the first update is the amount of blogs being ‘officially tracked’ and included on the list. Previously, I had established rigid cut-off points for all four scores and blogs that were not top 100 in every category were excluded. It was exceptionally difficult to figure it out last time and I felt bad excluding certain sites that were strong in 3 out of the 4 categories but not quite there in one.
On this update I’ve tracked 142 sites meaning every category is now ranked out of a possible 142 points all the way down to 1. Thus, the overall scores are higher and certain travel blogs that are dominant in three of the four categories have made the Top 100 list.
I’ve also gone ahead and included 30 extra blogs below the Top 100 to highlight those sites who almost made it.
From this update onwards, I’m going to start highlighting some of the top travel blogs that have made impressive progress since the last update. In this edition, I’d like to give shout outs to Travels of Adam, Our Oyster and Around the World L.
Travels of Adam has rocketed up the rankings with significant improvements in every single category being measured. Our Oyster is an emerging force and a site that was close to making it last time while being firmly there this time around. I predict they will move up further on every update for the foreseeable future. Finally, I’d like to congraduate Around The World L for really taking her blog to the next level. She was very close to making the list last time and is now ranking prominently on this latest update.
